Signature Theatre – located on West 42nd Street is the new home of the acclaimed Signature Theatre Company. The new facility houses three spaces: a 290-seat end stage theater, 190-seat jewel-box theater, and a 174-seat flexible theater, along with two rehearsal spaces. This major expansion has enabled this successful company to expand its mission of presenting works of playwrights during all stages of their careers. Akustiks is responsible for the acoustical design.
“Signature Center has been specifically conceived to foster orchestrated collisions between playwrights, artists and audiences, which will create a dynamic new culture for theater-going that goes far beyond the work on stage.”
– James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director
“Intimacy is the thing in the Griffin. Its first two productions in the space – Athol Fugard’s Blood Knot and Will Eno’s Title and Deed – contained many moments when actors spoke barely above a hush, yet every word was intelligible.” – David Barbour, Lighting and Sound America – December 2012
- Signature Theater will become the first New York City theater company to receive the noncompetitive Tony Award recognizing a regional American theater!
